A healthy liver does a lot of quiet work: processing medications, clearing waste products, producing bile, and helping regulate metabolism. So, does ivermectin affect liver function? It can, but the honest answer is more measured than the loud claims on either side. Most people taking standard doses for approved parasitic infections do not develop serious liver problems. Still, ivermectin is processed by the liver, and rare cases of liver injury have been reported.

A responsible approach is straightforward: use only a human medication intended for the condition being treated, follow the labeled or prescribed dose, avoid stacking products, and check for interactions. Keep the original packaging so the exact product and strength are available if a pharmacist, poison center, or clinician needs to assess a problem.
If you have liver disease, take multiple medications, or are considering repeat use, get individualized advice before starting. That is not surrendering control. It is protecting your ability to make a clear-eyed choice with the full facts in front of you.

Ivermectin does involve the liver because the liver metabolizes it. Serious liver injury appears rare at standard medical doses, but rare does not mean impossible.
